The physicians of Ear Nose & Throat Specialists provide medical and surgical services to patients with diseases of the head and neck.

Our San Luis Obispo office has additional specialized equipment which aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various conditions.

We are asked to consult on a variety of symptoms and illnesses. Patients also are referred for numerous types of surgical procedures. In our San Luis Obispo office we also provide videostroboscopy for voice problems and surgeon directed ultrasound to aid in the management of thyroid nodules and other head and neck diseases. Surgeon Directed Ultrasound

This is a new area of surgical care in the United States, but has been used by surgeons in Europe and elsewhere for years. Traditionally radiologists and their technicians have performed ultrasound examinations of the thyroid gland. They are well trained in interpreting images but do not have much experience in managing the diseases which required the test.

Recent studies have shown that when surgeons perform the examination they are able to find clinically useful information and can expand the role of ultrasound, thus possibly reducing the need for tests such as CAT scans or MRI.
